Congress 2018 is over and it was great! This information remains for historic interest.
There is an abundance of accommodation options in central Auckland, ranging from 5-star hotels to apartments to backpackers and hostels. There is a more limited range of accommodation in Parnell, close to Holy Trinity Cathedral, the main Congress venue.
There are at least two regular (every 10–15 minutes) bus services (green “Inner Link” and orange “Outer Link” buses) which run between different parts of the Auckland CBD and Parnell. Information about the bus services can be found at:
https://at.govt.nz/media/650557/lk_link_oct-2015-web.pdf (PDF Download)
The Inner and Outer Link buses operate in both directions on the same route, so it is very important to get the bus going in the right direction to your intended destination!
Airport: due to the wide range of times people are expected to arrive and depart, and the different destinations in the city, we are unable to offer transport to and from the airport. We suggest take the SkyBus to central Auckland, then transfer to the Inner or Outler link bus to get to Parnell. Alternatively there are shuttle services which can take you point-to-point (at considerably greater expense).
Assuming most Congress attendees will wish to stay in Parnell, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Auckland Rose Park Hotel in Parnell. The hotel has free car-parking, free wi-fi, and a restaurant / bar. Other information about the Rose Park hotel can be found here:
There is other Parnell accommodation which is either more expensive, or of an inferior standard, and some of this accommodation is located closer to the Cathedral. We believe the Rose Park offers good value for money. It is a 2 minute drive and 15 minute walk from the Cathedral. There is a bus route which runs between the hotel and the Cathedral, and there is a taxi rank at the hotel. We will co-ordinate some private car transfers between the two venues at the first Congress event on the Friday evening.
